“On the Right Track”
"On the Right Track" was a very memorable Guest Night as we enjoyed
Special feature, guest Speaker Perry Belmont who shared his personal adventures,
amazing facts about the thoroughbred Man of War, and some history of
Belmont Park Racetrack. And speaking of enjoying, we loved the superb music by
guest singers Larry & Ronda Edwards and Karla Hyatt.
Yuba City local musicians Larry and Ronda Edwards and sister
Karla Hyatt could have entertained us all night on their own with their
powerful presentation of "It Is Well, In His Presence I Will Dwell".
Later, topping off their musical offering they encouraged our hearts by singing
"Stand Still, Let God Move" reminding us that in today's world,
when the enemy surrounds you, the answer will come in His time.
Our speaker Perry Belmont is a very down to earth, sincere cowboy. He
shared that his divorced parents traveled from the dust bowl to settle in
California. Various teachings on evolution, nature, and self
led Perry to attitudes of non responsibility, despondency, and sin.
Perry gives credit to a cowboy in Salinas who took him under his wing,
taught him to ride, and who taught him about horses and ranching.
At 22 Perry took over a 1000 acre ranch and married but was empty.
They moved to a 4000 acre ranch in Mexico but they went broke.
Relying on his horseshoeing trade in New Mexico, Perry was critically injured when
kicked by a horse, surviving only by a desperate prayer while on route in the helicopter.
Back in California, Perry's 4 year old daughter started asking questions
about God and he realized he needed answers. Again he was kicked by a
horse forcing him to be bedridden for 6 months, where he turned to the
Bible, and where he learned the gospel of Jesus Christ and of God's love.
It was then that God changed Perry's heart and dramatically healed him from
alcoholism in 1 day! Perry's message to all is to live for Jesus Christ, He is worthy.
Only God can change us. Ask Him and be set free!
