Vintage Creations

"Vintage Creations" was a great way to spend a summer lunch with good friends!

We were wowed by the vintage restyled jewerly and home decor of Special Feature

Lesa Shippelhoute.  Always delightful, Christina Rice was our Music Guest, and

Speaker Carol Kohler shared about overcoming the challenges of AIDS in her family.

Our program began with sweet music from Guest Musician Christina Rice

who sang her own song "Dance With Me".  Her second number "What A Friend"

reminded us that Jesus is closer than a brother or friend - forever.

Special Feature, Lesa Shippelhoute is a local girl who became interested

in crafts with her children years ago.  Her large display of button rings rivals any,

as well as her various home decor items.  Lesa also shared some simple tips

for us, to use the things around us to create our own special treasures.

Speaker Carol Kohler described her early marriage as of living with guilt,

sin, and of compromising her moral values, while trying to work things out on her own.

Carol hoped a new pattern would stop her husband's city lure, so they built a

new home in a rural area on 5 acres.  After its completion, she received the phone call

from her husband saying that he had AIDS.  By giving her heart to Jesus through a

pastor, Carol found comfort through the Word of God, and the truth that God loves her.

She learned to ask for forgiveness and found that God is a refuge and help in trouble.

Carol received peace and compassion for her husband, who was saved, and

they had 5 years more together. Carol knows that a surrendered life brings peace

and contentment, and of what God can do when we are humbled before Him.

She knows that our Soverign God knows the future, and that we can trust Him.

When we give up the control, He gives us beauty for ashes!
