For the Love of
Love was the theme at our February luncheon. Caroll Reece of
Goldenberry Bags & Accessories displayed her hand made bags stitched with love.
Musician Terry Barber wooed us with songs about love, and Danette Bentz,
our speaker described her road to success when she realized that God loves her.
Terry Barber, our gifted musician as always, presented her songs with
great class and largeness of heart. Her first number kept in the theme of things
with "My Funny Valentine". Her last number however, "In This Very Room"
left the audience with a peaceful and quiet reverence.
Caroll Reece, owner of Custom Drapery & Upholstery and our Special Feature,
explained how her new business Goldenberry Bags & Accessories came into being.
Inspired by her love of textures and colors of upholstery fabrics, she and her daughter
Nicole Allard have created unique, hand made travel bags, purses, and pouches which
were selling like hotcakes. They also welcome special orders so
be sure to check them out on Facebook!
Speaker Danette Bentz came from an intellectual background. She worked hard
to obtain not one but two degrees, as a nurse, then as an educator, and in addition
she worked hard as a business owner with her husband.
Although she had been invited to church many times, Danette decided it was
not for her, that life was too restrictive and no fun. She continued for years
going her own way in self will, and loneliness. She was unable to express love
or to know God's love for her. Then, while feeling empty, hopeless, and
not good enough, a rental car with a broken radio that was stuck on a Christian station
gave her the truth about Jesus that she needed.
Danette prayed and received a new life and Jesus became her best friend.
Later she leaned on His peace and calmness as she
recovered from cancer and kemo "to make it". Now her relationship with
Jesus provides hope. Danette urges all to choose Jesus.
