"Christmas Joy" was seen all over the room at our December luncheon!
Music guests Linda Robinson and the Yuba City High School Choir
treated us to a number of joyful Christmas melodies.
And we were greatly inspired by Karen Penfold, our speaker,
who went from "holes to hope".
Under the superb direction of Linda Robinson, about 40 of Yuba City
High School Choir's finest singers treated us to a mixture of Christmas carols.
To name a few, the ever popular "Jingle Bells", "I See a Star", and "Angels We
Have Heard on High". Following their talented performance, we were all
invited to join with them in singing "Deck the Halls", "Jingle Bells", and
"O Christmas Tree". What a joy to see their lively faces and bright spirits!
To continue our inspiration, our speaker Karen Penfold shared about her
father's mental disorder, and her own need to find peace in her heart.
Learning the truth about Jesus through a Bible study, Karen found the strength,
comfort, forgiveness, and peace with God which grounded her.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time, and
recovering from a car accident, Karen chose to hope, to believe,
and to accept God's promises of a future of love and life.
She knew that she was not alone, and did not need to rely on her own strength.
Now without fear and emptiness, she was able to overcome,
to endure chemo with strength in her heart, and with an attitude of gratitude.
Karen then shared her victory, and of how she climbed Half Dome at Yosemite
just weeks after her recovery, greatly inspiring others in need!
